Miyu has natural charisma and class. She's quite arrogant, yet funny and knows exactly what she wants. She's an extreme cliché of the Akita. Her charm never stops to amaze me and I easily succomb to it...
Miyu arrived January 28, 2006. When I picked her up, she seemed calm, frightened and a pushover. But as soon as the ice was broken, she turned out to be quite the literal bitch. The next day, the tiny puppy already chased joggers and bikers, trying to bite their heels. The day after, she committed the crime of trying to take food from Toya's mouth - and got a beating from him. She knows how cute she is, so she comes hiding behind me whenever Toya's being mean - he never is mean, he just doesn't let her walk allover him.
Or, wait, yes he does. Miyu does whatever she wants to him. When he walks towards me, she literally pulls his leg. She bites his throat, pulls his tongue, she even drags him about by his cheek.
And me? Oh, poor me. She ignores me whenever she feels like it. Whatever I say, it's not worth her attention it seems. She's so arrogant. When I get boring, she just turns her back on me and slowly walks away. It's funny though. So funny. I love her for her bad character. And she farts a lot.
Agility is something she loves. Even the first time was a complete success, I didn't even need to encourage her. She just climbed up that bridge and did the whole thing in 10 minutes. She also encouraged Toya to doing it. She's got lots of charisma. And she seems to scare people: when I walk with her, less people address me about my dogs than when I'm only with Toya. Anyways, I got her some agility props for our home yard to practice, but at home, she's lazy. Actually, I introduced her to agility because she always tried to slip through the fence and participate in agility events on dog shows.
Food is her big passion. She eats much, she eats fast and she eats everything. And she farts loud and smelly. When it smells, it means Miyu's in da haus. Unfortunately, she's gotten quite fat lately.
Heath has been a topic on.... 9/11. Seriously. But, as always with us fat girls, the boys aren't too interested. Luckily.

I have an Akita girl (if you wish, you can see some pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/areldos/sets/1408185/) and I often wish I had enough space to get a male as well - and it would be a silver brindle like your Miyu, even if, as you say, it is really hard to find.
I also read your post on the UK plans to ban Akitas... well, they should first learn the difference between Japanese Akita and the American version - I see breeders there still mix them. The Japanese Akita is the dog we know - tough and fearless, but not needlessly aggressive. The American version is a different dog altogether, a mix of fighting breeds - I don't know how reliable it could be.
And anyway, neither breeds are suitable for everyone.

As for my dogs, while the male tends to show off in front of other males, they are both very sociable and most of all, human-loving. This is not due to their breed, but due to their upbringing. Loved dogs are loving dogs. Please see "Good Morning" and you'll see what i mean.
It's a sad fact that many people buy a dog and don't know how to handle it. Those people are the cause of the kind of dog that attacked you, but this doesn't mean all the dogs are the same.
